Me and my bed are perfect for each other, but my alarm clock keeps trying to break us up. I made a huge to do list for today. I just can't figure out who's going to do it. When nothing is going right, go left.

Several Milam County updates to announce

Extension for FEMA Individual Assistance Claims: FEMA has extended the cutoff for filing an individual assistance claim until May 20. If you are a Milam County homeowner or a Milam County renter with property damage due to the freeze in February, you now have until May 20 to fi le a claim with FEMA.

10-20-40-100 YEARS AGO 100 YEARS AGO... A one-day “poultry school” was to be conducted at the Rockdale City Hall on April 28. Teachers would be F.W. Kazmeier and Mayme Hazle, poultry experts and representatives of the Extension Division of the A&M College.

100 YEARS AGO... Just as we were getting a little uneasy about dry weather, we were visited by a very heavy rain, and for several days it had rained. In all we have had about three inches and still the weather was not settled.

A few instances of a return to normalcy

There have been a couple of instances of a return to some sense or normalcy around my house lately. Mom and her bridge club, Monday Night Bridge Club, got together for the first time in a year a couple of weeks ago.

More grant opportunities for the county

The American Rescue Plan Act provides a lot of fertile ground for more Milam County grant opportunities, and rest assured we will take advantage of them all.
