The birth of Jesus Christ has long been celebrated on Dec. 25 of every year. The first recorded celebration of Christmas dates back to Dec. 25, 336. However, it is not known for sure if Christ was even born during the month of December, much less on the day we come together to celebrate.

County Child Protective Services seeks sponsors The Milam County Child Protective Services Board is requesting your help to sponsor a child for Christmas. For a donation of $125 you will receive a child’s first name and a wish list completed by the foster parent or caseworker.

Liberty CC sets Christmas service, dinner for Sunday

MILANO NEWS Liberty Community Church will hold its Christmas service and dinner at 4 p.m. Sunday on the church grounds. Everyone is invited to join in and bring a side dish. The church also held a successful fundraiser for the local senior citizens group with Santa pictures over the weekend.

Our family had a very nice Thanksgiving Day at home. Plenty of good food and a great time of getting together, visiting and eating. Then comes Christmas so we can do it all over again. Sherri and James Rasco shared parties Saturday at Pony Express in Bryan.

Milam Community Theater announces its second annual Christmas performance. The MCT Children’s Theater is presenting “A Suessified Christmas Carol” a twist on the classic Charles Dickens. Shows are set for 10 a.m., 2 and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 2 p.m. Dec. 15, all in the Williams Event Center.

Film classics rev up the holiday spirit

Families often have their own unique traditions when it comes to the holidays. Lately, families have begun to include films in many of those traditions. That’s thanks largely to the array of classic holiday films that have consistently put people in the holiday mood.

‘Tree of Angels’ ceremony Monday

The 21st annual Tree of Angels ceremony is set at 6 p.m. Monday at 112 West First in downtown Cameron on the courthouse square. Participants are asked to bring a decorative angel commemorating a loved one lost to violent crime. Members of the military and law enforcement will also be honored.
