AS GOOD AS IT LOOKED

—Rockdale Band Booster held their annual Spaghetti Supper fund raiser Monday evening in the junior-high commons. Servers, including Richard Eubank and Laurie Kellar, were busy dishing up hundreds of plates. The event raised $3,915 for the Band Boosters. RISD bands performed during the supper.

Bikes and benefit

They came from as far as Austin to Rockdale’s Cliff’s Tavern Saturday for a benefit to assist Mike Morris of Lexington with medical bills. Morris is a lymphoma patient. Around 80 persons participated in the event which also included an auction and prize drawing. The event also featured chili sales.

CHURCH NEWS

Allen AME’s Preach Cobbler on Sunday Allen AME Church will host a program called Preach Cobbler Festival on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. Dinner will be served with peach cobbler for dessert. The public is invited to attend.

ROCKDALE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

The Rockdale Reporter was recently presented an appreciation award by The Milam County Commissioners Court.

Milam teams win at consumer contest

Congratulations to our 4-H Consumer Decision Making project members who competed at Central Texas Consumer Contest on Saturday. Here are the results: Juniors (12 teams, 39 individuals) Individuals—5th, Breleigh Glaser.

Railroad Museum sets fund raiser

CAMERON—The Milam County Railroad Museum’s 3-by-5-foot “Alpine Ski Resort “N” scale layout is complete and someone is going to take it home. Jamie Larson, representing the museum, said tickets for the fund raiser go on sale at the museum, located at 101 West Main in Cameron inside the old J. C.

Tunes-n-pasta

The Rockdale ISD Jazz Band, with Director Adrian Acevedo, were one of many band groups to provide entertainment Monday evening when Rock-dale Band Boosters held their annual spaghetti supper fund raiser in the RJH Commons. Also see page 2A. Reporter/Mike Brown
