COVID-19 cases set single day record

Monday set a high mark of COVID-19 cases in a single day. We have a record a record number of new cases for Milam County, County Judge Steve Young said in his daily report.

By David Money Staff Writer County Judge Steve Young delivered some hopeful news at the Commissioners Court meeting Monday in the Milam County Courthouse. There is a COVID-19 vaccines on its way, he said.

Milam County recorded its ninth COVID-19 death Sunday after a resident of the central part of the county died in an area hospital.

The numbers in the county are going up.  We had a lot of cases Wednesday and more Thursday.  County Steve Judge said, "Please be careful and do your part to slow the spread of this terrible virus." Thursday there were seven new PCR cases and no discharged PCR cases.

COVID-19 testing reveals 6 new cases

Six new PCR cases and no discharged PCR cases were reported Wednesday.  There wasx one new probable case and one probable case was discharged from the active list.     Seven people were tested in Milano with one positive test result.

Trump wins Milam, but race undecided

In the presidential balloting the team of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence smothered the Democrat’s Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris 7,950 to 2,475. The Republican pair got 75 percent of the votes beating their winning percent of 74 in 2016.

Those traveling west of Rockdale along US 79 have probably noticed “new” signs and some heavy equipment along the roadway. Get used to seeing them because they are going to be around for awhile. The milling and overlay project on US 79 began Oct. 19 and is scheduled to continue through January.
