Rockdale’s sales tax distribution for August was down a bit from last year’s August number, but the year-to-date total is still outpacing last year. The Municipal Development District’s numbers are higher both for the month and the year, according to figures released by the state’s comptroller.

Grand jury hands up 40 indictments

The following 40 cases were presented to the grand jury and indicted as true bills with no “no bills” on Oct. 22: • Wayne Albert Franklin, 69, of Rockdale, unauthorized use of motor vehicle. • Brittany Nicole McAdoo, 28, of Rockdale, tampering with evidence.

County man dies from COVID-19

A man in the southwestern section of the county died from COVID-19 on Friday, County Judge Steve Young said.  The man was in the hospital and was on a ventilator when he died.   One more person was admitted to a hospital over the past week.

COVID-19 testing confirms two new cases Thursday
