Milano 4-H Club taking part in Veterans project

Milano 4-H Club is taking part in a countywide community service project for our Veterans. The group is making and will be mailing Veterans Day cards for veterans in our area. If you have someone you would like to put on the mailing list, or if you would like to make some, just let me know by Nov.

Not much going on this time of year. Everyone is making their plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Wow, can you believe it is nearly 2021? Where has 2020 gone? I’ve always heard the older you get the faster time passes. I’m at that stage of my life.

County seeks answers for high-speed internet

Like many rural counties, Milam County is starved for high-speed internet. In some parts of the county, such as Rockdale and Cameron, Zochnet has provided fiber, which allows for the fastest connection. However, other parts of the county have slow speeds or no internet.

Trick-or-treaters were out in force along Main Street in downtown Thorndale on Saturday for the Chamber of Commerce’s Trunk or Treat. “The Chamber planned the event as something good for children on Halloween,” said Chamber board of directors member Dawn Morton.

Water district has help for well owners

Just as anticipated, some landowners in the area of the Vista Ridge well field are experiencing water level declines in their water wells. For the most part, a simple lowering of the pump below the new water level will solve the problem.

4 new COVID-19 cases reported

Testing on Tuesday found four new PCR cases, but no new probable cases. In Thorndale 17 people were tested and all were negative. THE NUMBERS—COVID-19 cases are measured Wednesday to Wednesday.   * Cumulative cases—556, up 7 from 549.   • Active cases (PCR test)—8, which is up from last week’s 7.

Two new COVID-19 cases found Friday

On Friday, Milam County had two new PCR cases and two discharged PCR cases.  There was also had one new probable case and one probable case was discharged from the active list.    Seven individuals in Buckholts were tested with one positive test results.

One new case of COVID -19 reported

Thursday there was one new PCR case and one discharged PCR case reported.  Also there were two new probable cases and one probable case was discharged from the active list.     Eight individuals in Cameron were tested with one positive test result.  Friday's testing is in Buckholts from 8:00 a.m.
