Ducks disassemble Tigers

The Rockdale Tigers are 0-2 but it’s still early in a season where they have a tough schedule not only against tough opponents but what also seems like too few home games. The Blue and Gold lost their second game on the road Friday night against the rival Taylor Ducks.

Eagles set to face CTC Lions The 1-0 Milano Eagles were off last week. They face the 1-1 Central Texas Christian Lions, a private school out of Temple, at home Friday. Kick off is at 7 p.m.

Granger rolls Bulldogs

The Thorndale Bulldogs lost at home under the Friday night lights against a very good Granger Lion football team. The final was Granger 38, Thorndale 7. Thorndale scored their only touchdown in the first quarter on a Jayden Clawson 13-yard run.

First pep rally for the 2023-2024 school year

Rockdale High School held their first pep rally last Thursday for last Friday night’s game against Teague at Tiger Stadium. Performances by the Big Blue Band, Golden Girls, cheerleaders and Rocky the Tiger got the Tiger football team and the student body on their feet.

THURSDAY’S TIGERS

Rockdale JV The Tiger junior varsity faced the Teague Lions Thursday in their first game of the season. This road trip ended in a loss, with the final score Teague 14, Rockdale 6. Defensively the Tigers were strong all night long.

LADY TIGERS VOLLEYBALL

The Lady Tiger varsity volleyball squad is now 14-15 but this team is seriously better than their record. Tue sday night they played a road game against the Thorndale Bulldogs and came home with a win beating the Bulldogs 3-1. During the week the Lady Tigers played in their own Rockdale Tournament.

LAKE BELTON MEET

The Tiger cross country team ran at Lake Belton last week. Tiger runner Jesus Bocanegra medaled with a fifth place individual finish. Lady Tiger Ciara Miles led the varsity girls with a 13:28 time. JV boys were led by Tiger Cohen Razo, while the JV girls were led by Yaretzi Hernandez.
