Tiger soccer back in playoffs for second time in three years

On Friday night, two significant things happened for the Tiger soccer team. First, they avenged a February loss to Smithville by beating them 2-1 on their own field. Second, the win guaranteed Rockdale their second trip to the post-season in their fourth year of existence.

Although the Tiger baseball team went without a win at their own tournament, they put up a fight. They started off on Thursday morning with a 6-2 loss to Holland, a Class 2A school that has runruled their opponents in a third of their games this season.

Rockdale track and field athletes had their biggest test of the season thus far when they went to the Buff Relays in Giddings Friday where they competed against Class 5A teams like Bryan Rudder and Bastrop’s Cedar Creek.

Kylberg racks up awards at region

On Thursday, Thorndale powerlifter Hayden Kylberg left regionals in Lumberton as not only a state qualifier with a gold medal in his division, but as the outstanding lifter on heavy platforms for the bench press and the dead lift. His coach Hudson Evans said he was proud of Kylberg.

RHS hoopers earn all-district honors

Earlier this month, more than a dozen Rockdale High School basketball players received all-district awards. For the Tigers, senior Raymond McBride was named to the first-team while sophomore Chris Perez and freshman Wyatt Windham were voted on to the second team.
