Rockdale’s Wake Swim Club sent two boys’ relay teams to the state competition in Brownsville last week. The Boys 11-12 team (top photo) finished fourth. It was made up of Stratton Masek, Milam Giles, Wyatt Glass and Hudson Bexley. The Boys 9-10 team (bottom photo) placed third.

BLEEDING BLUE AND GOLD Ibumped into former Rockdale State Champion Coach Jeff Miller at one of the Tiger baseball games this spring. Even with his success at Cy-Fair he is still the same humble guy. No doubt he’s one of the best in a lot of ways.

Rockdale Tiger Athletics is offering a football camp for incoming first through ninth graders from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. They are also offering volleyball camp on the same days/same times for incoming third through ninth graders. Cost is $30.

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 1.11 feet above pool. Black bass are good to 5 pounds on spinnerbaits fished in shallow water. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows fished in 8-16 feet of water. White bass are fair on slab spoons fished over humps.

Plus diving a little deeper into Texas Football magazine Idrove by Rockdale’s pickleball court at Moultry Park last week. As you know, the park is located behind the Aycock School. The Aycock School was open from 1902 to 1967 and was originally known as the Rockdale Colored Public School.

Wake Aquatics recently held their Swim-a-thon 2024 at Rockdale Community Pool. The top lap swimmers were Milam Giles with 350 laps and Caitlyn Hancock with 302 laps. You may still donate to the swim team by visiting their Facebook page for more information.

Rockdale Youth Soccer Association is now registering kids for the upcoming season. More information is available on their Facebook page or registration forms may be picked up at the local Farmers Insurance office, 123 W. Cameron Ave.

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 0.88 feet above pool. Black bass are fair on crankbaits fished around shallow timber. Crappie are fair on 1/32 ounce jigs fished over cover in 5-15 feet of water. White bass are good on slab spoons fished over main lake humps.
