BLEEDING BLUE AND GOLD No doubt things have changed since I was a kid. I’ve been thinking about the stretched out shorts and worn out T-shirts they issued us in high school athletics.

Youth football, cheer final registration July 10 Rockdale Tigers Youth Football and Cheer will have final registration for this football season from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at the storage unit.

Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 0.70 feet above pool. Black bass are good to 5 pounds on black plastic worms fished around the cover. Crappie are fair on minnows fished in 8-17 feet of water. White bass are good on slab spoons fished over main lake points and humps.

Texas Football not optimistic on Tigers, Bulldogs or Eagles

magazine came out recently. I’ve been reading it for as long as I can remember. It reminds me of my older brother’s Boy Scout Handbook that told you everything you ever needed to know from how to put up a pup tent to start a fire.

NELSON UNIVERSITY— Mason Willard, who graduated in May, will continue his baseball career and further his education by playing for the Nelson University Lions next year. Nelson University is the former Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie.  

Thorndale flag football sign up day Sunday

Sign ups for the Thorndale Youth Sports Association flag football are happening from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Thorndale Chamber Building. Registration fee is $50 per athlete and registration closes Aug. 4. Grades kindergarten through sixth may participate. The season begins Sept. 15

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 1.05 feet above pool. Black bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and Insane plastic jigs fished in 8-16 feet of water. White bass are good on slab spoons fished over main lake humps.

SUMMER YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL

The 10U Blu Sox (top photo) from Rockdale Youth Baseball Association will play in a district game this week in Crawford. The 12U Astros (bottom photo) will also play a district game in Belton. Both teams won first place in their divisions. We wish you the best!

Random thoughts about sports in Central Texas

I’ve got a lot of random thoughts on sports this week. I’m hav ing to work hard at wrapping my mind around the success of our Central Texas neighbors, the Aggies in Omaha this spring. They are currently playing Tennessee in the College World Series.
