Eagles shutout McDade

McDADE—The Milano Eagles have started what could be a comeback from their 0-2 district start. They went to McDade last Friday and not only pitched a shutout but they went on a scoring frenzy. The Eagles beat the Bulldogs 47-0.

THURSDAY’S TIGERS

The Rockdale Tiger junior varsity squad was on the road against Academy last week and won in a close game, 26-22. Key plays and players in the game were: • Shawn Gerren, who both caused and recovered a fumble early in the game. • Kendrick Henderson ran 57 yards for a touchdown.

ROCKDALE LADY TIGERS VOLLEYBALL

The Rockdale Lady Tigers continue to struggle this year. Last week they lost both of their matches against district foes. Early in the week they traveled to Lexington and lost in very close games 18-25, 20-25, 23-25.

THORNDALE LADY DOGS VOLLEYBALL

The Thorndale Lady Dogs are unstoppable right now. They are 5-0 in district play and in first place. Last week they beat McDade in three sets, 25-10, 25-9, 25-13. The y a l so won in straight sets over Holland, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13.

THORNDALE CROSS COUNTRY

DISTRICT MEET—On Monday, the Thorndale Bulldogs and Lady Dogs competed in Schulenburg at the district meet and both won district championships. They will now compete in the upcoming regional meet. Congrats to these long distance runners!

Golden moments

The Rockdale Golden Girls drill team held a camp last week and invited the camp attendees to dance with them during Friday night’s game against Little River- Academy at Tiger Stadium.  

TP&W FISHING REPORT

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 0.31 feet below pool. Black bass are good with catches up to 5 pounds on crankbaits and worms fished in timber up river. Crappie are very good on jigs and minnows fished over cover in 4-12 feet of water.

G R A N G ER—The Milano Eagles are still on the lookout for their first d i s t r ic t win a f ter get t ing shut out on the road against Granger. The final score was a rough 44-0. Milano is 1-4 and 0-2 in district play.

Bulldogs to begin district play

THORNDALE—The 4-1 Thorndale Bulldogs, who were off last week, are making a serious road trip to the Hill Country this week to take on the Mason Punchers. Mason is only 131.8 miles away so why not? I think someone in Austin forgot Thorndale is located in Central Texas.

The Thorndale Lady Dogs are on a roll, they are undefeated in district play and have only dropped one set since district started. Thor nd a l e swept Bartlett on the road early last week in three sets, 25-10, 25-16, 25-16.
