—It wasn’t actually a garage. It’s the Kay Theatre and it was the site of a multi-agency garage sale Saturday as part of Rockdale’s annual garage sale weekend.

Milam County budget being finalized

Monday the commissioners court will vote on adopting the 2019 county budget and the 2018/19 tax rate of 73 cents, an increase of 3 cents. At that rate the county will collect an estimated $10.5 million (rounded) in ad valorem taxes. This compares to this year’s (2017/18) collection of $11.

Full October schedule at city library

LIBRARY NOTES It’s going to be a busy October at the city Library with three programs within eight days Oct. 18-25. Dr. Steven Gonzales will present a program on the El Camino Real de los Tejas at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.

Cold case info sought

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Department Cold Case Unit continues to seek information on the murder of a 15-year-old Rockdale High School sophomore 19 years ago. On Feb. 19, 1999, Sonya Wallace left her Rockdale home to walk to the post office four blocks away.
