Parents Club to meet Tuesday

MILANO NEWS The first Milano Parents Club meeting of the new school year is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Milano Elementary School. RAH-RAH CAMP—Milano Eagle Rah-Rah Camp has been set for Aug. 27-29 at the elementary gym. Times are 3:30-5 p.m. each day.

Our family members and friends helped Kelly Cooper celebrate her birthday Thursday, Aug. 16, at their home. We had a great time. SCHOOL NEWS—Volleyball and football practice has started. Games will start in a couple of weeks. Soccer registration will be Sept. 24 and 28 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Afood handlers course accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services is being offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Milam County. Food Safety: It’s In Your Hands is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

As we began the budget planning process this year, I said although the 2019 plan would be difficult and require curtailment of some county services as well as a tax rate increase, that I was optimistic that these harsh measures would be only temporary and that we could look forward to better times.
