Members of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department held their first ever push-in ceremony for their new $180,000 brush truck on Saturday at the fire station. A push-in is an historical ceremony that hearkens back to the times when fire trucks were either pulled by people or animals.

United Way of South Milam County has fallen very short of its goal of $60,000 to $70,000 for the September 2024 Radiothon. The organization only received about $20,000 to disperse between 13 and 17 local non-profits that were seeking approximately $65,000 in funding for the current year.
