RHS bomb hoax Monday morning

The Milam County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 7:20 a.m. Monday, April 1, following a phone call to Rockdale Police Department regarding a bomb threat to Rockdale High School. Rockdale ISD administrators had students and staff sent to Tiger Field.

Operating businesses in a rural landscape

Rockdale Chamber of Commerce held a lunch and learn last Thursday for about 30 interested people at the Patterson Civic Center from noon to 1 p.m. titled “Scaling Business in a Rural Landscape” with a meal catered by Moon Brew Coffee Co.

Labor market data shows highest numbers since 2008

The February labor market data for Milam County was recently released and there are some surprising achievements in the data.

The Rockdale Fair Association will hold the annual barbecue cookoff April 11 and 12 at Fair Park and includes food, dancing, a carnival, a rodeo and $5,000 in prize money. Cookoff entry is $200 and includes three meat categories, a camp spot and four weekend passes.
