St. John’s Methodist to be recognized with historical marker

The Texas Historical Commission has recognized St. John’s United Methodist Church as a significant part of Texas history by awarding a Texas Historical Marker. A dedication ceremony to commemorate the event will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at the church.

Cynthia Ferrell was nominated by MARC in the Recognize Good competition from Austin for her over 15 years of work to help adults with special needs in Rockdale, and over the past 20 years has raised over $400,000 for the MARC Center.

RMD gives two grants

Two local companies were awarded facade grants at the Rockdale Municipal Development District’s (RMDD) board meeting on Monday night.

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s award for February goes to Attorneys of Texas Title. For almost 20 years, the company has offered comprehensive title services and closing support for real estate transactions.

Salty group meets Monday

Salty Cemetery will hold its annual meeting on Monday, March 3, at the Salty Church Annex. “All persons with loved ones buried in the cemetery are invited to attend,” said spokesperson Dana Caffey.
