RISD inducts 2026 Distinguished Alumni

Rockdale Independent School District proudly honored its 2026 Distinguished Alumni during the district’s fourth induction ceremony held Friday, April 10. The evening brought together alumni, family and community members for a celebration filled with connection, reflection and shared memories.

Early voting for city council, school board begins April 20

RISD school board and Rockdale city council races are set for voting on Thursday, May 2. Election day voting on May 2 will have extended hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting at Rockdale City Hall Council Chamber are April 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.m April 22-24 hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

RPD makes six felony arrests, responds to three traffic accidents

Rockdale Police Officers made six felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Berthrum Everage, 50, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc. Meadows for possession of a controlled substance (under 12 gram). • Jacob Mitchell, 40, Rockdale, was arrested by Sgt. Bielamowicz for a parole warrant.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • Murray Ave. at Coulter St. for a residence that was smoking on April 1 at 5:18 p.m. • North FM 487 near Beverly Drive for a one-vehicle accident with unknown injuries on April 6 at 12:18 a.m. • Cameron Ave.

Did you eat too much at Easter? We kept it pretty simple and had roast chicken with veggies and a salad since it was only us Rockdale folks this year. But we had three desserts: a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate icing, a peach cobbler and a cherry dessert that Betty Headrick made.
