Garden club plant exchange Saturday

Linwood Acres Garden Club is holding a plant exchange this Saturday, April 20 at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, 1203 W. Cameron Ave. from 9 a.m. to 12-noon. A variety of flower and vegetable plants will be available, and they are free. Attendees are encouraged to bring plants to the exchange.

New Girl Scout troop formed

A meet and greet for a new Milam County Girl Scout Troop will be held on two Saturdays, April 20 and 27, at Murray Street Church of Christ from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Girls grade pre-K through 12 and their guardians are welcome. Extended year membership is available now.

Mayor pro tem Lin Perry read a proclamation at last Monday’s city council meeting declaring Earth Day on April 22. The Rockdale Earth Day organization will hold their day of service this Friday, April 19 starting at 9 a.m. in the RHS gymnasium.

Main Street Bookshop is participating in Eclipse Glasses USA Give Back program which provides donated glasses to primary school children in other countries around the world. “I believe the next eclipse event is across Latin America,” said bookshop owner Meggins Scheel.

The other day Mom mentioned that we have a lot of mint growing around the house, so I searched for recipes using mint and came across a good one for tabouli. When I lived in Houston, I had great access to Middle Eastern restaurants, and I’ve always liked this dish.

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Nicholas David Little, 35, Giddings, was arrested for a probation violation motion to revoke criminal mischief ($2,500 to $30,000).

FIRE CALLS

Responded to: • 406 Douthit for a structure fire on April 10 at 9:55 a.m. • 1260 CR 304 for a one vehicle rollover on April 11 at 10:08 p.m. • Wilcox at the baseball field area for a report of a small fire on April 11 and 10:25 p.m. but were unable to locate.
