Early voting for the May 4 election for both city council and RISD school board will start on April 22, and this year the voting will take place at Rockdale City Hall in the council chamber.
Early voting dates and times are April 22 through April 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Gertharine “Big Mama” Green had a special birthday last week when she turned 106 years old. On Saturday, a huge birthday party was held at her home on Third Street, also known as Gertharine Green Avenue.

The 88th annual Nelson Family Reunion will be held on May 5 at the Milano Community Center at 303 West Avenue E. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
The meal will be held at 12:30 p.m. and attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish and a dessert. Silent auction items are also requested.
Academic UIL competition was held at Blinn College April 5. Milano is sending several students to regionals in Corpus Christi. Congratulations to all participating students.

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m.
