Main Street Youth meet every Wednesday Main Street Youth, located at Street Ministries, 225 N. Main St., meets every Wednesday night from 6-7:30 p.m. The youth eat at 6 p.m., have a lesson from 6:307:30. Youth also meet every second and fourth Sunday from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Barcak, Laughlin, Caffey win school, council races

Incumbent Jason Barcak keeps his Place 1 position on the RISD board of trustees with his win over Susan Pantaleon by a 60.46% victory over Pantaleon with 39.53%. Votes were 283 for Barcak to Pantaleon’s 185. Place 2 was won by Karen Kirk Laughlin with 56.

CDC to visit Milam Health Department

A Center for Disease Control (CDC) team with expertise in human-centered design and epidemiology will visit the Milam County Health Department on Tuesday May 7.

Truck pursuit ends in Rockdale with subject Levis in custody

A pursuit that began in Lee County ended in Milam County with one person in custody. The Milam County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, about a pursuit of a stolen box truck that was heading toward Milam County.
