Milano Volunteer Fire Department receives $20,000 grant

The Texas A&M Forest Service Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program awarded the city of Milano Volunteer Fire Department a $20,000 grant to assist in the purchase of new fire and rescue equipment.

SAD NEWS FOR MILAM’S OLDEST COTTONWOOD TREE

The city’s parks board hired a certified arborist to assess the damage to this over 250-year-old tree, but the company reported that the tree cannot be saved because it is decayed in the center. The tree is now a danger to people who visit Sumuel Park as well as residents who live nearby.

Earth Day sees many beautification projects

Rockdale Earth Day held their 10th annual Day of Service on Friday morning with several projects going on around town. The day started in the RHS gymnasium at 8:30 with about 50 student volunteers signed up to work.
