Vision Historic Preservation Foundation (Vision Rockdale) announced the election of new board members and a transition of executive leadership in the foundation following its February 2024 board meeting. Joining the board for three-year terms serving through Feb. 2027 are Paul Dixon and Bill Torrey.

Milano powerlifting sent two students to state. Congratulations Andres Ruelas and Gerald Dykes. Gerald came home with a medal! ONE-ACT PLAY— One Act Play has advanced to area competition. Congratulations OAP!

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lions Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

Rockdale Police Officers made four felony arrests during the past week including: • Brittany Massey, 31, Thorndale, was arrested on March 19 by Ofc. Puente for possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram).

FIRE CALLS

Responded to: • US 77 just south of FM 487 for a report of several piles burning on March 20 at 12:46 a.m. • The 6700 block of South FM 908 for a vehicle vs. cow accident with no injuries on March 22 at 5:46 p.m. • US 77 at US 79 for a two-vehicle accident on March 23 at 6 p.m.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

RISD school board notes from last week’s meeting

The Board of Trustees recognized the following student groups: Kids Heart Challenge Elementary School Top Earners, Kids Heart Challenge Intermediate School Top Earners, Golden Girls Drill Team, Girls Basketball Playoffs, THSCA Academic All-State, Regional and State Powerlifting Qualifiers.

CASA of Milam County has announced that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month with a list of activities the public can do to help. One April 5 at 6 p.m. there will be a free movie, 'Instant Family,' at the Kay Theater at 6 p.m. with free popcorn and drinks.
