When Richard and Meggins Scheel opened Main Street Bookshop they thought they were going to start out slow and gradually get bigger and busier down the road. They were wrong. “The reception has been incredible and shocking,” according to Meggins. “Especially the book ordering part of the business.

O.J. Thomas 58th reunion August 12 The O.J. Thomas Alumni Community Resource Center will hold their 58th annual homecoming on Saturday, Aug. 12, with a tailgate party from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a barbecue lunch at noon. A dance will be held in the cafeteria from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring Joe Tex II.

REUNIONS

The Holdiness Family Reunion will take place this Saturday and Sunday. The reunion will be held at Flying N Ranch from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday and at Milano Senior Center from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. “Attendees should bring lots of pictures and your favorite dish,” said organizer Sandra Dworaczyk.

Two felony arrests made over past week

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past seven days including: • Daniel Tovar, 40, Rockdale, was arrested on Tuesday by Ofc. Wall for possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams), and driving with license invalid with previous conviction. • Edward Raymond Powell Jr.
