The following 32 cases were presented to the grand jury and indicted as true bills with no “no bills” on January 15. • Jacob Anthony Lopez, 25, Georgetown, third degree felony, possession of controlled substance (under 1 gram) in a drub free zone.

Arrests Rockdale Police Officers made three arrests over the past seven days including one each for unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a Brown County warrant.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 524 College Street for a report of both a fire alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm going off on Jan. 28 at 5:34 p.m. • 320 Eighth Street for a trailer house fully engulfed in flames on Jan. 28 at 11:12 p.m.

Free well testing underway for Milam, Burleson residents

Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) has launched its 2026 Water Well Quality Testing Campaign for private well owners in Milam and Burleson Counties. This is the first year the District has offered a winter testing campaign.

A Century of Strength: Black families shaped Rockdale’s past, future

( The Rockdale Reporter’s popular and well-received 43-year Black History Series did not die when revered author Susie Sansom- Piper died in October 2019. Tamara Powell, Piper’s granddaughter, has agreed to write a series for the newspaper since her grandmother’s death.
