Police arrest two on felonies in past week

On Aug. 12., Officer Christian Fain arrested a 27-yearold Rockdale man at 10:09 p.m. on charges of possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams) and forgery by passing. A Rockdale man was arrested Sunday at 10:47 a.m.

SUNFLOWER FUN RUN/WALK—The Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship “Sunflower Fun Run/ Walk” will be held Sept. 25 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. There is a kids’ one-mile color run at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $30 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run.

The 4-H year will be here before you know it. Enrollment starts Sept 1 and some of the 4-H clubs are already meeting and preparing for the new year. The Milam County community clubs are Cameron, Gause, Milano, Rockdale and Thorndale.

The U.S. Census released information from the 2020 Census report that reveals changes in the size and distribution of the population across the United States. The population of U.S. metro areas grew by 9% from 2010 to 2020, resulting in 86% of the population living in U.S.

Retirement celebration for Dr. D.L. Brooks Sr.
