RIBBON CUTTING

RIBBON CUTTING—Rockdale Speed Shop and Customs held their ribbon cutting last Thursday. Owners Nick and Heidi Carter restore and flip cars keeping the outward appearance the same but adding modern touches the cars didn’t have originally. Things like heat and air-conditioning, power steering and brakes, and they specialize in classic cars. Standing in front of 1948 Chevy 3100 that has been completely restored under the hood are Rockdale Chamber of Commerce representatives Michelle Toungate and Pat Watson, owners Nick and Heidi Carter, and chamber representatives Homer Mowdy and Monique Gebhart. Below is a 1957 Chevy Bel Air which is currently being modified. Rockdale Speed Shop is located at 320 South Wilcox Street and they can be reached at 512-823-0094.

RES art/music news

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching art and music to the children at RES this year. This role is new to me as I have been a K-5 classroom teacher for 19 years, and I am loving it! These children have so much talent and it is truly rewarding to watch these young artists and musicians at work and foster creative abilities in the students that I didn’t always get to see in the general classroom. This year we have worked on patriotic songs, movement songs about animals and fun fall holiday and Christmas songs. I am looking forward to seeing what other fun music we can work on in the spring.
