Walk the 2.2-mile Ranchería Grande trail on Saturday

As part of El Camino Real Day, Saturday, citizens are invited to observe the unveiling of the dedication panels at “Walk the Ranchería Grande” trail followed by an optional hike to the village site. The free event starts at Cedar Hill Nature Preserve, 12374 FM 2095, Gause, at 10 am.

Sandow Lakes Ranch donates $5,000 to RCS Food Pantry

Sandow Lakes has provided a $5,000 donation to the Rockdale Christian Services Food Pantry to help ensure local families have access to food and essential items. Sandow Lakes supports local partners who strengthen and serve the communities.

Mesquite Cemetery meeting set for Nov. 8 The Mesquite Cemetery Association will be holding it’s semi-annual Fall 2025 meeting and pot luck lunch at noon on Saturday, Nov. 8. The cemetery is located at 1073 CR 336 Lexington, south of FM 112 between Taylor and Lexington.

Milam County is still under a burn ban. Perhaps we need to have a community gathering to pray for rain. SLOW DOWN!— We have seen a number of near misses with school buses lately. I can not say this loudly enough: Slow down and pay attention!

Rockdale PD makes two felony arrests, responds to two traffic accidents

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past week: • James Timmerman, 50, Gause, was arrested by Ofc. Wachtel for possession of a controlled substance (4 to 200 grams). • Elizabeth Freitag, 33 Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc.

FIRE CALLS

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • US 77 at CR 314 for a vehicle that ran off the road to provide traffic control on October 7 at 5:05 a.m. • 700 CR 235 along with Minerva VFD for a grass fire on October 7 at 11:57 a.m.
