MHS seniors busy fundraising for Project Graduation in May

Milano High School seniors are busy raising funds for a very special night in May. The mission of Project Graduation is to keep high school seniors safe on graduation night by providing a fun, substance-free event that prevents alcohol and drug-related accidents, and deaths.

REUNIONS

Rockdale High School Class of 1973 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Tiger Stadium to watch the RHS Tiger football team play McGregor High School. General admission tickets are required for admission. A section of seats for the Class of 1973 is reserved. Contact Keith Wall at keithwall@rocketmail.

ORGANIZATIONS

New Rockdale microtransit service launched by HCTD

The Hill Country Transit District (HCTD) announces the launch of a new microtransit service in the City of Rockdale, expanding mobility options and providing additional service to residents alongside the existing demand response service available throughout Milam County.

A NIGHT OF PEACE— Rockdale Earth Day held its third annual Night of Peace at Wolf Park on Sunday evening. Master of Ceremonies was Charlie McGregor with music provided by The Sparky Thomason Jazz Quartet. RHS students read “A Reading on Peace,” and Pastor Madison Garcia- Tabor of St. John’s United Methodist Church read this year’s peace homily. Refreshments and fellowship and more music followed the event.

Thorndale launches TREE Foundation

The Thorndale community is planting seeds for the future of education with the official launch of the Thorndale Resources for Educational Empowerment (TREE) Foundation.

Rockdale resident Elman receives Honor Flight

Martin “Marty” Elman, an Air Force veteran and resident of Rockdale, was honored in the 99th Honor Flight of Austin on Aug. 22-23. This is an all-expense paid trip to thank veterans having served during the years of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Era.
