Hard lesson learned of private property arrests

A driver found out one could indeed be arrested on private property last week. A patrol officer stopped A patrol officer stopped a vehicle at the corner of Marshall and Murray. But the driver left the vehicle and headed toward a house, after the officer had asked him to remain in the driver’s seat.

Milano chili supper and gun drawing

Chili, 200 pounds of it prepared at the fire station by the volunteers, was on the menu at the Milano Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday for the department’s annual fundraiser and drawing.

Tanglewood VFD to host fish fry March 13 The Tanglewood VFD will host a drive through fish fry fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 13. Plates are $10 for adults and $5 for children and will include fish, French fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, green beans and a dessert.

Again, another dreary weather day. Looking at the school calendar, progress reports at Gause ISD will go home to parents on March 10. Can you believe school will be out for summer vacation before you know it? I’m sure students and teachers are ready.

Rockdale’s monthly tax report takes January dip

Rockdale’s January tax returns from the state’s comptroller’s office to an early slide with receipts down by almost half a cent from the December 2020 numbers which were reported in January of this year.
