Rockdale Senior Center reopening April 5

The Rockdale Senior Center is open to all seniors 60 years and older starting April 5. To get on the waiting list, please call 512-446-2666 by March 29. Everyone who is able should wear a mask. If you are not on the Meals On Wheels list you will need to sign up.

Today the county will run a 500 dose Moderna clinic in Rockdale.  "Our vaccination clinic was a big success. We administered 486 shots today (Thursday), with 483 first round and 3 second round shots," Milam County Judge Steve Young said.

Roddam set to retire as RVFD chief

Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ward Roddam has announced his retirement, according to a news release. Roddam has served the department since he was 18 years old beginning his firefighting career at age 15 with the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department.

A&M study shows worries about vaccine

In a recent Texas A&M University-led study, about 31 percent of 5,009 surveyed Americans said they don’t plan to get the COVID-19 vaccine once it becomes available to them.

Rockdale public works tackling two ‘unplanned projects’

Time is now to sign up for vaccinations

There has not been a better time to get on the vaccination list, urged County Judge Steve Young in his daily email. “We will vaccinate almost 1,100 individuals this week and this will deplete our waiting list. If you get on the list now, you could get vaccinated as early as next Tuesday,” he said.
