Milam County 4-H team wins national title at home

Instead of traveling to Denver, Colorado for a national competition, a team of 4-Hers traveled all the way over to the AgriLife Extension office in Cameron to compete. The team qualified for nationals, but COVID-19 complications made the competition stay local.

The Martin Luther King Day Parade began in downtown Rockdale on Sunday and went east down US 79, turning right onto San Gabriel which turns into Plum, then down MLK Drive and ending at Sumuel Park.

County plans big COVID-19 vaccination clinic next week

County Judge Steve Young said that the county should get 600 doses of the vaccine for next week. “Although we do not yet have confirmation, we will set up two clinics to administer the doses, which will be Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rockdale student athletes were on the east side, the west side and even out of town Saturday morning to help clean up after the Jan. 10 snowfall that covered Milam County.

Academic UIL East zone at junior high

Rockdale Junior High is hosting the Academic UIL Competition for Middle Schools in the East Zone. Rockdale Junior High is one of four schools in the East Zone which includes Cameron, Lexington and Caldwell. In 2018-19, Rockdale finished in fourth place.
