From County Judge Steve Young Tuesday evening: Tuesday the Milam County Health Department was advised by a testing lab that seven nursing home tests results were invalid due to lab test contamination.  Five of those tests were for Milam County residents.

  From County Judge Steve Young early Monday: 240 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Milam County. 51 active. 126 being monitored by the health department. 4 hospitalized. 2 fatalities.

CASE COUNT 230, 58 ACTIVE

Milam County Judge Steve Young said there were 13 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday, bringing the total count to 230, and the active case count went down one to 58. There have now been 71 cases in the past seven days.

14 IS NEW DAILY HIGH; CUMULATIVE UP TO 217

From Milam County Judge Steve Young Thursday evening: Confirmed cases – 217, up 14 cases.  This is a single day high for the county since the pandemic started. Active cases – 9, down 2. Individuals being quarantined and monitored – 131, up 2.

MILAM BURN BAN IMPOSED

  Milam County Commissioners, in a unanimous vote Thursday morning, have imposed a outdoor burning ban for Milam County, beginning on 12:01 p.m. that day.   Such bans affect the rural areas of the county. Municipalities in the county have their own, permanent outdoor burning bans.

COVID TOTAL INCLUDES JAIL INMATE, SHERIFF PERSONNEL

The ongoing COVID-19 numbers in Milam County now include a jail inmate and some jail personnel. Sheriff Chris White announced Wednesday an inmate tested positive for the virus, as have three jail staff members and a patrol deputy.

City asking conservation of water use

City of Rockdale officials are asking water customers to conserve usage in what is right now, a voluntary request. “Rockdale is currently experiencing very high water consumption and is nearing Stage 1 of our Drought Contingency Plan,” City Manager Barbara Holly said.
