Lions Soup Suppers change dates, location The Noon Lions Club’s annual January soup suppers are changing a bit for 2020. Allen Sanders, club president said instead of holding the tasty events every Thursday during the month they will be scheduled only twice, Jan. 9 and 23.

Arrest targets auto incident

POLICE REPORT A Taylor man was arrested on a charge of robbery the day after Christmas after an incident in which police said a subject twice tried to drive off with a vehicle even though there were children in the car. Isak Julian Yovany Castro. 22, remains in custody on $20,000 bond.

Meadowbrook Baptist holds grief seminar Meadowbrook Baptist Church will sponsor a weekly GriefShare recovery workshop from Jan. 13 to April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. “This program is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend,” according to program director Malda Burns.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.
