MANSFIELD—The Rockdale Tigers’ basketball team participated in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Showcase last week in Mansfi eld. Big Blue won two out of three games. The Tigers beat Buffalo, 46-38, and a Fort Worth private school, 55-37, and then lost a nail biter to Wall, 46-43.

The South Milam County United Way, along with the United Way Worldwide board of trustees, has agreed to dissolve its membership charter, Chapter President Charles Keagy announced this week.
The 24th annual MARC. Ride was held Saturday in Rockdale at The Ranch and recorded 55 entrants, including those above, on bikes, trikes, cars and trucks. Organizer Charles Starr said the event exceeded its fundraising goal and raised $67,075. In its 24-year history, the event has raised $618,000 for MARC.

MARC board signs contract with Abiding Choice

In February, Central Counties Services of Temple informed the Milam Adult Resource Center (MARC) board of directors that they would be terminating their contract to provide a day program that serves persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities at MARC.

Bulk waste pickup set for July 9

The Cit y of Rockdale will provide bulk waste curbside pickup on Wednesday, July 9. This is for city residents only with a water and/or trash account. Contact City Hall at 512-446-2511 no later than Thursday, July 3 by 4 p.m. to be added to the list.

Artifact ID program ahead for Sugarloaf dig

The Texas Archeological Society will hold a public program and artifact ID from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at the Robertson County Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building.

Amateur Radio Club field day ahead June 28

Members of the Milam Amateur Radio Club will participate in the national amateur radio Field Day exercise on Saturday, June 28, 1- 8 p.m. at Veterans Park in Rockdale.
