Cool food for hot days

Thinking of more “dog days of summer recipes” this week, and this one is a good start. It’s one of my favorite things to eat in hot weather. If you aren’t serving this right away, don’t add the cilantro and avocado until the last minute.

One felony arrest, one traffic accident reported this week

Rockdale Police Officers made one felony arrest during the past week: • Don Fegan, 78, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc. Bielamowicz for injury to elderly and criminal mischief ($2,500 to $30,000). Accidents • Ofc. Lentz and Ofc.

The saying “You can’t go home again” means that when you return to a place from your past, it won’t be the same as it was. The phrase gained popularity as the title of Thomas Wolfe’s novel, where it reflects the reality that things and people evolve over time.

Good, bad news for Rockdale’s healthcare

The cat is officially out of the bag, and the rumors you’ve been hearing are true. Rockdale will have emergency care when Integrity Urgent Care opens later this year in December. That’s the good news.
