Thriller was one of best games ever

Friday’s game was by far one of the best high school games I’ve ever seen. Both teams showed heart and will in a contest for the ages. While I’m on the sidelines taking pictures, I try to stay quiet so that I’m not a distraction.

Friday’s game against Lexington was nothing short of an instant classic. Both teams showed why they were ranked in the top 10 with many big plays and suspenseful moments. However, the Rockdale Tigers fell short, earning their first loss of the season 35-34.

RHS faces big test in Bellville

RHS will face another tough test this Friday as the 3-0 Bellville Brahmas come to town. “Bellville will be the best team we have played this season by far,” RHS Head Coach Jacob Campsey said. “That’s no disrespect to Lexington, but Bellville is just a different animal.

Lady Tigers begin district play with losses to Eagles, Hornets

The RHS volleyball team struggled this past week as they were defeated in both of their matchups. The Lady Tigers began district play on Friday as they faced off against the No. 3 ranked Lexington Lady Eagles. The girls lost the game in three sets 9-25, 8-25 and 14-25.

Milano Lady Eagles 2-0 in weekend’s matches

The MHS netters are now 4-4 on the season after winning their two matches over the weekend. On Saturday, the Lady Eagles traveled to Buckholts for a matchup against the Lady Badgers. The young ladies won in three sets 25-16, 25-17 and 25-17.

RJH cross country wins big at McGregor

The Rockdale Junior High Cross-Country team competed in the Night Light Relay at McGregor this past Saturday. The race consisted of teams of two, with each leg running a 1-mile loop before passing it to the second leg runner. Only the top 10 relay teams received medals.

JV Gold crushes Belton, JV Blue finishes in a tie

The Rockdale JV Gold team continued its dominance last week as they demolished the Belton JV team 53-6. The JV Gold are now 3-0 on the season. The demolition started with quarterback Blaydn Barcak scoring a 17-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Eagles fall to Bremond, 42-0

The Eagles fell to 1-2 on the season after they were shut out by the Bremond Tigers 42-0. “We couldn’t get anything going offensively,” MHS Head Coach Chad Lagrone said. “Defensively we couldn’t stop their (Bremond) quarterback.

Bulldogs garner first loss against Centerville, 30-14

The Thorndale Bulldogs were looking to remain unbeaten last Friday but came up short against the Centerville Tigers 14-30. The Bulldogs are now 2-1 on the season. “It was a very physical game,” THS Head Coach John Kovar said. “We had some opportunities to win but we didn’t capitalize on them.
