The Rockdale Tigers reclaimed the traditional Victory Bell from the Cameron Yoemen Friday and did it in style. The 33-point margin of victory was the third highest for RHS in the long history of the bell battle, behind only 1967 (39 points) and 1963 (35 points).

Lady Tiger spikers take Cameron in four sets

The Lady Tigers continued to impress as Rockdale split two matches over the past week. On Friday, the Lady Tigers defeated the Cameron Lady Yoe in four sets 25-22, 25-23, 17-25 and 25-20. The Lady Tigers fought hard and showed great teamwork to fend off a good Cameron team.

Milano volleyball splits two

The MHS netters are now 7-7 on the season after splitting their two matches over the weekend. On Saturday, the Lady Eagles were defeated by the Granger Lady Lions in four sets 25-17, 26-18, 16-25 and 20-25. McKenna Robertson led the Lady Eagles with 19 kills and six blocks.

JV Gold remains undefeated, JV Blue falls to Yoemen JV

The RHS JV Gold team continued their dominant season after earning a tough win against the Cameron Yoemen 15-6. With the win, the young Tigers are now 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in district play.

Milano defeats Bartlett 24-6, now 1-1 in district

The Milano Eagles earned their first win in district play after defeating the Bartlett Bulldogs 24-6. The Eagles are now 2-3 on the season. “I thought we played with a ton of confidence,” MHS Head Coach Chad Lagrone said. “We were able to run the ball well and contain Bartlett’s offense.

Thorndale falls to Holland 26-21 in first district loss

The Bulldogs fought a hard battle on Friday but came up short against the Holland Hornets 26-21. The Bulldogs are now 3-2 on the season. “It was a well-fought game between two rivals,” THS Head Coach John Kovar said. “The game was physical and it went down to the wire.

Tiger cross-country team team takes second while girls post personal bests

The RHS Boys Cross Country team continued to impress after placing second in the Caldwell Invitational Meet on Saturday. The girls had an impressive showing as well with each runner recording a new personal record.

The RJH boys’ cross-country team had a great showing on Saturday placing second at the Cameron Invitational Meet. The girls’ team placed third and had three runners finish in the top 25 spots.

7TH GRADE A TEAM—T he Rockd a le Junior High 7th Grade A Team defeated the Cameron Yoemen 8-7 on Thursday. De’andre Nunn connected with Brody Willard on a 60-yard touchdown pass for the only score of the game. Willard converted the two-point conversion.

My first ‘Battle of the Bell’ contest

Ever since I moved to Rockdale, everyone has spoken with me about the rivalry between Cameron and Rockdale. My coworkers and residents around town would tell me how big of a deal it was and how much the game meant to both towns.
