Meadowbrook Baptist holds grief seminar Meadowbrook Baptist Church will sponsor a weekly GriefShare recovery workshop from Jan. 13 to April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. “This program is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend,” according to program director Malda Burns.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Milam burn ban is lifted to start year The new year started without a rural outdoor burning ban in Milam County. County Judge Steve Young said the ban was lifted at noon on Monday. He termed the ban lifting “temporary.” Lifting of burn bans affect only the rural portions of Milam County.

POLICE REPORT A Taylor man was arrested on a charge of robbery the day after Christmas after an incident in which police said a subject twice tried to drive off with a vehicle even though there were children in the car. Isak Julian Yovany Castro. 22, remains in custody on $20,000 bond.
