Ex-inmate sues county, offi cials By MIKE BROWN Reporter Editor

A Rockdale resident—who claims he suffered two weeks of partial paralysis from the waist down, and is now permanently disabled—fi led a federal lawsuit Monday in a Waco court against members of the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and others, including two elected offi cials.

Not that several hundred youngsters at Fair Park for the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center’s annual Easter Egg Hunt needed much encouragement Friday morning. The egg-hunters tracked down several hundred candy-filled eggs in just a bit over two minutes.

19th Dewberry Run set Saturday

Alpha Tau Delta service sorority’s 19th Annual Dewberry Jam 5K Run/ Walk Saturday morning is going to be just as colorful as last year’s successful event. Again, participants start the race in a white T-shirt and will be plastered with different colors at stations throughout the course.

$302,752 for junior livestock

Final total for the 2018 Milam County Junior Livestock Show, held March 22-24 in Cameron’s Youth Exposition Building was $302,752 to benefi t Milam 4-H and FFA youth. That’s a new record, topping the $300,779 raised last year.

Thumbs up for Holy Week

The multi-denominational noon luncheon Holy Week Services at Peace Lutheran Church concluded on Good Friday. Services drew large appreciative crowds averaging 80 and featured speakers from a variety of local churches, including Rev. Royal Johnson (R) of Rising Star Baptist.

Trustees call bids for new facilities

Rockdale ISD trustees have “pulled the trigger” on the proposed new football fi eld. RISD has called for bids on the new facility, which also includes a new track and general upgrade at the athletic complex.

POLICE REPORT Rockdale Police made several drug arrests on separate cases during the past week, listed by Lt. Stephen Goodrich as follows: • Sean Thomas Kelly, 24, San Antonio, possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram), released on $6,000 bond.
