That was an unofficial motto of the City of Rockdale’s spring Stash Your Trash event, held Saturday at Fair Park. This spring the event was part of “Earth Month” activities, leading up to this weekend’s Earth Day events.

Bonds in hands of TISD voters

For the second time in two years a proposal which would change the face of the Thorndale ISD is in the hands of school district voters. Early voting on a “mix and match” bond issue which would cost $12,940,000 if all options are approved, begins Monday in the Thorndale ISD administration building.

$23,000 and counting for MARC Run

Cold temperatures and a strong north wind didn’t stop 60 participants from raising at least $23,000 for the Milam Adult Resource Center (MARC) Saturday. That’s the “still counting” total from the 17th annual MARC Run held by Bad to the Bone Riders, beginning and ending at The Ranch.

Cameron Avenue ‘chase’ ends with arrest on Monday

POLICE REPORT A chase down the center turn of Cameron Avenue (US 79) on Monday ended with the arrest of a 61-year-old Caldwell man. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police received a report of an eastbound driver speeding and driving erratically in the center lane in the vicinity of Tractor Supply. Ofc.

Deputies go from scam to scam

SHERIFF’S REPORT It was “scam week” in Milam County as the sheriff’s department answered seven complaints, one of them in connection with online activity. Three scam calls in a row were reported to deputies, Thursday, all to rural locations in south Milam.

May 5 city, school board candidates issue statements

Caywood will sing Thursday at city library

QUICK LOOK Rockdale musician Ronnie Caywood will return to the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library for a free concert. Librarian Melanie Todd said Caywood is set to perform at 6 p.m. Thursday. The concert is part of National Library Week activities in Rockdale.

Annual MARC Run slated for Saturday

The 17th annual MARC (Milam Adult Resource Center) Run, sponsored by Bad To The Bone Riders will be held Saturday, at The Ranch. “In the 16-year history of the MARC Run, it has donated 100 percent of the proceeds from its rides to MARC, amounting to more than $259,563,” organizer Starr said.
