Russia seems to revel in being the global bad boy. And now, with its invasion of its neighbor Ukraine, it will pay a steep price. Vladimir Putin has been a thorn in the side of the U.S. and global freedom for decades.

War hits home

Veterans Services’ Ken Janicek retiring

One of the many great things Milam County provides is a Veterans Service Department. Veterans Services provides just about all things veteran to the almost 1,500 veterans in Milam County. Mr. Ken Janicek has been in charge of this department for almost 24 years and has done such a marvelous job!

100 YEARS AGO… The biggest deal yet recorded in the Rockdale oil field was finally closed when Dr. T.D. Roundtree leased to the Tidal Oil Company of Tulsa, OK, 260 acres off of his 535- acre farm, the consideration being $240 per acre, or a total of $62,400. W.E.
