The Rockdale High School boys 3-mile team left for the regional meet Sunday to compete at Katie Barr Ross Park in Huntsville were cheered off by family and friends.

The 2020-2021 school year has started off with a bang. We have welcomed students back while traversing this new world of on campus/virtual learning. Students have concluded their second six weeks of learning and we are seeing progress and growth as we near the holidays.

MILANO HOMECOMING ROYALTY—The Milano Homecoming King and Queen were crowned Oct. 2 at Milano High School during halftime of the night’s football game. Homecoming Queen is Jaden Carmichael, daughter of Tristan and Cindy Carmichael, and Homecoming King is Cordell Spears, son of Greg and Kerry Spears.

Stash It

They came in droves to stash their trash Saturday at Fair Park. Some brought a little; some brought a lot to the annual event that is usually held in April, but was delayed to October because of COVID-19.

Rockdale Elementary has had an amazing start to the year. It’s always a great feeling to begin a new school year, and this year we are especially excited.

The Blonde (my wife Jennifer) got a crazy idea about a month ago to redecorate our bedroom. Can I share a little back story before I go on with the DIY project? I really started calling her the Blonde in high school before we had actually met.

Some of us need more self-esteem after a rough week, year or day. Abuse, rejection and bullying over the years put us in a box—this is hard to get out of. A majority of issues start in childhood where the seeds of rejection are planted.

Rising Star to celebrate 113 years on Sunday Rising Star Baptist Church will hold it’s annual anniversary a little differently this year. On Sunday, at 9:45 a.m. there will be a celebration on their Facebook page sharing pictures and memories. At 10 a.m.
