Tigers end season on high note

In a repeat of the Tigers’ first district victory over Lexington, RHS fought tooth nail for their second win over the Eagles on Tuesday night to close out its season.

Rockdale Invitational begins Thursday

Seven teams will be competing in this year’s Rockdale Softball Invitational Tournament at Rock-dale High School. The Lady Tigers varsity takes the field 9:30 a.m. Friday and the junior varsity squad will play 9:30 a.m. today. Entry fees for tournament are $2 for students and $4 for adults.

RHS runners test their mettle in Caldwell Duel/Tri Practice meet

Rockdale runners are headed to Caldwell to kick off their season by competing in a duel/tri practice meet on Thursday. “The only thing that I am looking for from our kids on Thursday is the endurance level that we are on in our races,” said Coach Lewis Edmonson.

RHS tennis takes home hardware

Rockdale varsity tennis players went all of Friday without losing a match on their home court when Lady Tiger Yolianna Castillo won the girls’ singles division and two-time state qualifier Devon Whitsel breezed through the competition in the boys singles division to end the day as champion.

Rockdale’s junior varsity ended its season with an exciting and heartbreaking 40-39 loss to Lexington in front an enthusiastic crowd at home Tuesday night.

Lifters in striking distance of regionals After a three-week break from competition, Rockdale powerlifting teams head to the Salado Eagle Invitational today in the hopes of qualifying for regional competition. “Salado is all about getting totals up for a push to regionals,” said Coach Jacob Campsey.

RHS boys soccer team now 3-2 in district play

In a competitive District 26-4A, the RHS soccer team notched a 5-1 victory over Highway 79 competitors Hearne on Valentine’s Day. The Tigers played New Tech in Manor at press time, Tuesday. Game information will be in next week’s issue. “Any team we face at this point is a tough competition.

A young, inexperienced but athletic RHS girls’ soccer team lost 2-0 to Manor New Tech last Friday. “Right now our biggest obstacle is just learning the game of soccer and how it flows. I’ve already seen a ton of improvement with the girls this season,” said Coach Kaitlin Brinkley.
