Rockdale’s Lady Tigers improved to 2-1 in District 19-3A after their defense battled back in the second half to grab a road win over McGregor 39-30. “It started slow and we had some girls in different places,” said Meredith Caffey, RHS basketball coach.

Lady Bulldogs take over late to beat Thrall, 47-41

Things looked bleak for the Thorndale Lady Bulldog basketball team going into the fourth quarter as they trailed 32-30 against rival Thrall.

Milano teams fall in Granger

Milano’s boys struggled against Granger, unable to stop the Lions’ Johnny Ryder and Thomas Rhode, who combined for 41 points in their 64-56 win over the Eagles on Friday night at the GHS Gymnasium.

Meyer racks up awards at All-American Games

While most kids her age were home for the holidays, Toni Meyer of Milano was competing in the All-American Games at the Boombah Softball Complex in Orlando, FL from Jan. 2-5. During her time in the Sunshine State, Meyer received the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Ace Pitcher awards.

RHS powerlifting starts Saturday in Giddings The Rockdale High Schools boys and girls powerlifting make their season debut when they travel to Giddings Saturday morning for their first powerlifting meet. All events will take place in the GHS Gymnasium.

Bulldogs face top-ranked teams in Tenaha tourney

After Christmas, Thorndale played in the Ten-aha Tournament, going 1-3 against top-ranked teams in Classes 1A through 3A. They opened against Class 1A’s 13th-ranked Lipan beating LHS 61-51 in overtime after outscoring them 10-0 in post-regulation.

Tigers struggle against stiff competition in Schulenburg

Earlier this week, the Rockdale Tigers basketball team went 0-3 in a challenging Schulenburg Tournament. In their opener on Monday, they fell behind early to Class 4A Bellville. The Brahmas led 41-26 at halftime.

Rockdale soccer encounters tough Lorena teams

Both Rockdale High School soccer teams struggled when they faced Lorena on the road this past Tuesday. First, a young Lady Tiger team fell 11-0 to a Lady Leopard squad that made it to the regional finals last season.
