RHS girls see improvement in Cameron over weekend

After experiencing a string of double-digit losses, the Lady Tigers fought hard at the Cameron Tournament this past weekend, Although they had they lost three games, they were all close matches with a 1-0 loss to Academy, 2-0 to Florence and 2-0 to Madisonville.

Fall in Troy: RHS gets third district loss, 62-52

Rockdale started off hot against a strong, athletic Troy team taking a 21-9 lead at the close of the first quarter. However, the Trojans took away their steam, outscoring RHS 24-9 in the second half, taking a 33-30 lead at halftime.

Last Monday, construction began at Thorndale ISD’s football stadium, where workers ripped up the old surface and replaced it with base on what was once the THS track.

THS teams remain undefeated

With a 49-32 win over Granger early Friday evening, the Thorndale Bulldogs are still undefeated in District 25-2A. THS was led by Kolby Neumeyer with 22 points.

Youth softball holds early registration Rockdale Girls Softball League is holding an earlybird registration on Saturday at the RGSL Softball Complext from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Registration for early signees will be $60. Regular registration will be from Jan. 25 through Feb. 1, and cost $70.

Lady Eagles beat Bartlett 25-23

Early Friday evening, the Milano girls basketball team got their second win of the season, defeating non-district opponent Bartlett 25-23 on the road. It looked like the Lassies had the game early on, leading after the opening quarter and going up 11-6 at the close of the first half.

Tibbitts named Wizard of softball

Milano Elementary fourth-grader Audrey Tibbitts has earned the Defensive Wizard Award at the 10-and-under All-American games in Round Rock. According to her father, Tibbitts went five-of-eight at the plate batting four runs in and crossing home plate three times.
