RHS powerlifting starts practices

Rockdale High School boys’ and girls’ powerlifting teams have high hopes coming into for the 2020 power-lifting season. Last season, RHS had two regional qualifiers and one state qualifier with all three are returning to the gym this season.

Gibbs hangs it up after 23 seasons

When the Rockdale Tigers’ 2019 season ended last month, RHS seniors weren’t the only ones who were saying good-bye to Friday night football. Bart Gibbs, RISD’s longest tenured coach in the history of the district, also said farewell after 23 seasons on the sidelines for the blue-and-gold.

On Monday, the University Intescholastic League released the new enrollment figures for each division for the 2020 and 2021 football seasons. Class 3A-I, Rockdale’s division, changed from 335-504 in 2018 to 350-514 this week. With an enrollment of 443 as of Friday, Oct.

Bremond’s J.T. Anthony looks to get past Flatonia’s Fidel Venegas during the two teams’ regional semi-final matchup on Friday in Rockdale. Anthony scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime to give the Tigers a 41-35 win and a trip to the regional finals against Falls City next week.

Both Thorndale basketball teams head out of town for the weekend for tournament play. The Bulldogs go north to play in the Salado Tournament. THS finished fourth last season at the tourney, beating Corpus Christi-Flour Bluff, Cameron and Pflugerville-Weiss.
