MILANO BASKETBALL

Congratulations to these Milano Lady Eagles for their hard work both on the court and in the classroom: Kandance Koenig was named First Team All-District and Montgomery Popham was named Second Team All-District, while Laynie Rose and Peyton Robertson were both honorable mentions.

SPORTS BRIEFS

Rockdale Girls’ Softball Association will hold a fundraiser on Saturday, March 23, at The Ranch from 7 p.m. to midnight. There will be a $10 donation at the door. To raise money for its fields and facilities, there will be a drawing and both live and silent auctions.

THORNDALE TRACK

Thorndale Lady Dog Bethany Preusse recently finished in fourth place at the Bluebonnet Invitational at Texas A&M University in College Station. She broke the Thorndale school record in the discus event with a throw of 129’8”.

MILANO TRACK

The Milano track team competed in the Bremond Track Meet last week. Varsity Eagle Cole Dyer came in third in the 100M, while Patrick Sauceda came in sixth. Wyatt Koenig placed first in the 400M and Robert Miller was first in discus.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

The Tigers had a home game last Tuesday against Smithville that resulted in a win. The final score was Rockdale 2, Smithville 1. Later in the week the Tigers played an aggressive game on the road against Giddings that resulted in a loss. The final was Giddings 3, Rockdale 1.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

It is hard to believe the Thorndale Bulldogs basketball season came to a close last week but it did. The Bulldogs lost their regional quarter final game at Cy-Fair High School against Sabine Pass. The final score was 44-39.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL TRACK – ROCKDALE RELAYS

Last week Rockdale hosted the 66th annual Rockdale Relays track meet. Head Track Coach Marcus Chalk said there were 13 schools participating with over 800 athletes competing. The Tigers had 75 students in the meet.

ROCKDALE POWERLIFTING

The Rockdale Lady Tigers that qualified for the regional meet traveled to Dublin last week. Elizabeth Perry placed second and is qualified to participate in the March 14 state meet that will be held in Frisco.

ROCKDALE POWERLIFTING

Rockdale Lady Tigers powerlifters Jalinda Beard, Averi Borrero, Elizabeth Perry, Ashley Reyes, Caressa San Miguel, Ashley Gonzalez-Reyes, Stefany Rodrigues-Reyes and Shelly Segovia qualified for the regional meet that takes place this Saturday in Dublin.
