ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

The Tiger soccer team split their games last week. GIDDINGS— Giddings came to town last Tuesday and the game finished in a tie but the Blue and Gold won in the penalty shoot out, 4-3. The goal scored in this game was by Jose Tenorio with an assist by Wilmer Sorto.

SIGNING DAY

Tiger standout athletes Riley Spears (football, above), Blaydn Barcak (football, at right) and Jesus Bocanegra (cross country, below) all signed letters of intent last Wednesday in Tiger Gym to continue their athletic and academic careers at nearby University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Thorndale basketball team continued its win streak last week. The Bulldogs put two W's in the win column beating Hearne 59-27 and Milano 54-24. HEARNE— Aga inst Hearne, Kaden Kovar put up 23 points, Kale Meadors had 13 and Jayden Clawson contributed 11 points.

MILANO HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Milano Eagles basketball team is gaining ground towards the end of what has been a disappointing season. The Eagles traveled to Thrall to take on the third place Tigers last week and lost 70-47, before they traveled to Thorndale to take on the undefeated, first-place Bulldogs and lost 54-25.

RHS BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Tigers baseball team traveled to Rosebud-Lott last week to scrimmage against the Cougars. Former Tiger and Head Baseball Coach Austin Caf fey said, “ We a re showing growth, which is important for us at this stage in the season.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL POWERLIFTING

Rockdale’s powerlifting teams traveled to Smithville last week and competed with over 300 other athletes.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

The Rockdale Lady Tiger golf team traveled to Lago Vista to play at the Point Venture Golf Club on Monday. The team came home with second-place medals. Congratulations to these young women! This win included team members Brianna Bailey, Brandi Musto, Alyssa Talbott and Lauren VonGonten.

UIL district realignment announced for 2023-24

District realignment was recently released by the UIL for the upcoming 2023-2024 school years. Rockdale will now be in District 11-3A D1 in football and in Dist r ic t 19-3A in volleyball and basketball. Soccer and other spring sport realignments have not been released yet.

AREA BASKETBALL

The win streak continues in Thorndale. The Bulldog basketball team is still undefeated after winning against both Bartlett and Holland. The Bartlett Bulldogs came to town last Tuesday night and left with a 68-44 loss.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The undefeated Lorena Leopards blew into town early last week and it was a dog fight. Saying, “Tiger fight never dies” was an understatement in the Rockdale High School gym on Tuesday night. The Blue and Gold ended up losing this slug fest 59-47 but there were times it looked like they might win.
