PANDEMIC POSITIVES GROW TO 27

  Milam County Judge Steve Young told The Reporter Tuesday afternoon that the number of COVID-19 cases in Milam County has grown to 27.   Young said the 27th case is from Central Milam County and tested in Bryan. "He is a younger male," Young said.   "The person is self-quarantining," he said.

CASE COUNT AT 26 IN MILAM

  From Milam County Judge Steve Young Monday afternoon:   "We just learned of a 26th confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus in the county. This is a case from the western part of the county of an older person with underlying health conditions.

JUDGE: WALMART EMPLOYEE PREVIOUSLY TESTED POSITIVE

 Milam County Judge Steve Young opened Monday's county commissioners meeting by confirming that an employee of Rockdale Walmart had previously tested positive for COVID-19.   His comment came in the context of addressing rumors over the weekend that three employees of the store had tested positive.

 From County Judge Steve Young Saturday morning:  Coronavirus Testing: Free testing for the virus will be conducted this Monday, May 18, 2020 at the Milano Fire Station from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This will be mobile testing for those who have symptoms.

COVID-19 COUNT GOES TO 24

  From County Judge Steve Young earlly Friday: Late yesterday we were informed of a 24th confirmed case of the cornavirus in Milam County.  This person is a Milam County resident who lives in the western part of the county.  This is believed to be a community spread infection.

COVID-19 COUNT GOES TO 23

 Milam County has logged a 23rd case of COVID-19 virus.  County Judge Steve Young said the person lives in the central part of Milam County, became ill, went to a Brazos County hospital  spent "a couple of nights there and was rleased.

More virus testing set for Monday, Milano VFD

With the Milam County COVID-19 case count at 22, and expected to climb (see separate story) another test day has been set for Monday at the Milano Volunteer Fire Department. County Judge Steve Young said tests begin at 9 a.m.

Hutto’s Meadors named new police chief

Rockdale’s new police chief won’t have to spend any time learning about Milam County. Jerry “Jay” Meadors is a former police officer in Thorndale and Cameron. He married a Thorndale woman and they’ve lived in the Thorndale area for a dozen years.
