MILAM COUNT NOW 43

  Milam County Judge Steve Young said Friday afternoon there are now 43 cases of COVID-19 in the county.   Young said officials had previously told him there were two new cases reported, which would have brought the total to 44.

  Milam County Judge Steve Young said Thursday morning Milam County has recorded two more cases of COVID-19.   Young said he will provide additional details later today.   Tha brings the county's count to 44, including what is now 10 this week.

  Milam County announced two more cases of COVID-19 early Thursday afternoon, making a total of three announced during the day.   Young said cases 41 and 42 were persons who tested positive out-of-county and are now back home.  That makes eight new cases for the week.

CASES HIT 40

Milam County Judge Steve Young said Thursday morning there is a 40th case of COVID-19 in Milam County.  "Yesterday evening we learned of our 40th case, a person from the eastern part of the county who tested positive.  We think the infection may have taken place out of county.

Senior Center frozen food day scheduled

Another free frozen food distribution day is ahead Thursday at the Rockdale Multi-Service Senior Center, according to Carolyn Cooper, center director. This is the most recent in a series of distributions designed to provide meals for senior citizens during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Hours are 9 to 11 a.

It’s only the second week in June but Rockdale has already logged its first 100-degree-plus reading of the year The mercury climbed to 101 Saturday on the U. S. Weather Service thermometer at KRXT-FM. Just for good measure, it also reached 101 on Tuesday. Cooler weather arrived overnight Tuesday.

Rockdale has a new city manager, but it’s a most familiar face. Barbara Holly, who has been serving as the city’s Development Services Director for just over a year, was promoted to city manager in a unanimous vote of the Rockdale City Council during a telephonic meeting originating at City Hall.
