For the week of May 20, 2020. Austin–GOOD. Water clear; 76 degrees; 0.69 low. Largemouth bass are fair on crankbaits, buzz baits, and shaky head plastic worms in 5-15’. The early bite with topwater plugs and plastic frogs continues. Sunfish are good on cutworms, and corn.

NO NEW MILAM CASES FROM TESTING

Milam County Judge Steve Young said Tuesday afternoon there were no new Milam County COVID-19 cases reported from May 18 testing by the Texas National Guard at the Milano VFD Fire Station.  Young said 31 persons were tested and 24 were Milam residents.   As of 5 p.m.

MILAM COVID-19 COUNT NOW 28

 From County Judfge Steve Young:  We just learned of the 28th confirmed case of the virus in Milam County. The person is a Milam County resident, located in the central part of the County. The individual has mild symptoms at this point, is self quarantined and is expected to recover.

JUDGE: 27th CASE WAS ANOTHER WALMART EMPLOYEE

  Milam County Judge Steve Young said Wednesday afternoon Milam County's 27th case of COVID-19 was another Rockdale Walmart employee, the second in about 10 days to test positive.   Young said he believed "Walmart is okay" for several reasons.

Monday is Memorial Day. Yes, really. It still is. Because of the pandemic, there won’t be the usual gathering and reading of names of Milam County war dead, which this year would have been held at Rockdale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525.

Memorial Day closings slated

The COVID-19 situation almost makes a holiday closing story pointless. Area financial institutions will close their drive-throughs. Their lobbies are already closed. There’s no mail delivery. There’s no school classes, of course. Most businesses will be closed, including The Rockdale Reporter.
