Curtis Courtney donated over $1,000 to the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce last Monday. Chair Cassidy Paschall accepted the check and displayed the Rockdale Chamber map Courtney’s Morning Star Publications out of Elgin publishes every four years for the chamber.

Police arrest local man for credit card abuse

POLICE REPORT Rockdale police investigated a credit card abuse case filed by the Rockdale VFD, and a Rockdale man turned himself in a few days later. Rajiha Shunquay Mitchell, 25, of Rockdale, who is a volunteer fire fighter, was arrested and charged with credit card abuse last Friday.

Rising Star Baptist Church celebrated

Rising Star Baptist Church celebrated their 112th anniversary and homecoming Sept. 15 with over 125 in attendance for the worship service and meal. The church was organized in Tracey in 1907 and the building was moved to Rockdale in 1963. The new church was remodeled and completed September 2012.

Drive-through pet blessing at church Peace Lutheran Church will hold a “Bless the Pets Event” Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. The come and go event is open to the community and will be held on the lawn outside the church building entrance on Meadow Road.

Milano alumni, exes hosting scholarship fundraiser Friday

MILANO NEWS Milano Alumni and Exes Association will host its only scholarship fundraiser on Friday with a fajita dinner at the Milano Elementary School cafeteria. Serving starts at 5:30 p.m. until sold out. Cost is $10 per plate and includes fajita with your choice of fixings, tea and a dessert.

Wayne and I spent Friday and Saturday in Rock-port visiting with Tom and Kathy Lee. We had a great time as we do each chance we get to be together. According to the calendar, autumn is here. Gause Baptist Church will have a preteen and youth bake sale Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m.
